Pamela L. Scott, RHIT, CCS, CRC, CCDS AHIMA Approved ICD-10CM/PCS Trainer Assistant Vice President, Coding Support and Compliance Services Because of her extensive expertise in ICD-10CM/PCS and her clinical documentation improvement background, Pam serves as our firm’s ICD-10 education coordinator. Additionally, she conducts educational programs for our clients and has presented nationally, regionally, and locally on more than 50 occasions. She is a sought-after speaker for coding related topics. Pam provides coding support and coding compliance services for our clients. She has served as a coding mentor to many of our clients’ coders and especially those new to the coding field. Our clients often compliment her on her caring attitude and quality of her work. Certified in risk-adjustment coding (HCCs), Pam has participated in governmental audits of Medicare Advantage plans and can assist clients in understanding the nuances of this coding system.
Ms. Scott has experience with all types of inpatient facilities including acute and long-term specialty hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities. She provides coding support for outpatient services as well and has experience with dialysis and cancer treatment centers. Ms. Scott has worked with a variety of registries including tumor, myocardial infarction, and head and spinal cord injury registries.
In the past, Pam has served as a Financial Data Manager, participated in quality and performance improvement programs, and conducted ICD-9/ICD-10 DRG shift analyses. During the ICD-10 preparation period, she taught trauma registrars in several states the fundamentals of ICD-10 and taught numerous physician groups in every specialty about ICD-10 and its impact on their practices.
Ms. Scott obtained her RHIT in 1990 and joined our firm 5 years later. She has coursework in business, accounting, management training, and nursing. She is a member of the Missouri and American Health Information Management Associations, the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS), and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
