Deanna M. Peterson, MHA, BS, RHIA, CHPS, LNHA Vice President, Health Information Consulting Services Deanna’s expertise in regulations, compliance, quality improvement document imaging, release of information and department management spans a variety of healthcare settings. Ms. Peterson has directed HIM departments in large teaching institutions and community hospitals. Her success rate in reducing backlogs, implementing efficient workflow processes, establishing effective clinical documentation improvement programs, and improving employee morale and physician satisfaction are a few accomplishments mentioned by her clients.
In her management roles, she has successfully turned around deteriorated departments and ground zero morale, implemented technology solutions to improve physician relations and incomplete records, participated in the selection of and recommended electronic health records (EHRs) for her clients, coordinated Periodic Performance Reviews for Joint Commission purposes, and organized the outsourcing of transcription for a multi-hospital system.
Since joining First Class Solutions in 2009, Deanna built and directs our long-term care division that serves more than 60 skilled and long-term care facilities. Her team provides documentation compliance, medical record and billing reviews, policy and procedure development and privacy officer support services for these facilities.
With her expertise in HIPAA, Deanna serves as the firm’s Privacy Officer and routinely conducts privacy assessments for our clients.
Deanna received her B.S. and M.H.A. from Saint Louis University. She is active in the Health Care Compliance Association, Missouri Healthcare Association, and she has held officer and council positions and is active in the Missouri and American Health Information Management Associations. Ms. Peterson received the 2016 Outstanding Volunteer Award from MoHIMA and 2017 Emerging Leader Award from AHIMA.
