Don Fallati

Don Fallati provides results-oriented consulting in the areas of technology and strategic growth advisory, marketing, product planning/management, sales support, corporate development, and acquisition-related work for healthcare information and other software and services companies.   He has significant experience in product launch and go-to-market strategies.  Don is particularly adept at company and solution portfolio positioning and creating messaging, presentations, and other tools which translate complex issues into a clear and impactful story.  

His current and prior consulting clients have ranged from leading health information technology firms to small companies to industry associations. He has provided interim senior management services and has also completed a variety of short and long-term projects. Don’s broad experience allows him to operate comfortably in different settings, including private equity/financial sponsor ownership environments.

Don has had a successful career as a senior executive in healthcare companies.  He served in leadership roles for 11 years with Dictaphone Corporation, including as Executive Vice President, and was part of the team that transformed and repositioned the company from a traditional system vendor into a growth-oriented advanced technology and services firm focused in healthcare IT and HIM services.  During his tenure, he helped navigate through a variety of corporate transactions (LBO, divestiture of units, merger), culminating in the successful sale of Dictaphone to Nuance Communications (NUAN).

As the chief marketing & strategic planning officer at Dictaphone, Don worked closely with hospital and clinic clients and managed the complete range of marketing, product planning, major account sales, sales support and training, and corporate planning activities for the company.  He directed new product launches, product roadmap development, positioning, marketing communications, market research and technology forecasting, software/services pricing, and OEM sales and relations.

Following the sale of Dictaphone, Don worked closely on the Nuance integration efforts for a year, leaving to join Amkai LLC as one of two senior executives/equity holders reporting to the Founder of this early-stage provider of administrative and clinical software for the ambulatory surgery center market.  He was recruited by the venture investors to guide a substantial ramp up in marketing and sales and to create higher company visibility. 

Most recently, Don was Senior Vice President of Marketing for M*Modal, a growth-stage developer of advanced speech and language technologies for healthcare clinical documentation and data analytics applications.  The company was acquired by a large strategic buyer in late 2011 at a substantial valuation of over 6X revenue.

Don’s firm is an affiliate of Schaffer Consulting, a leader for 50 years in the development and practice of organizational and cultural change, with particular focus on driving growth through a Rapid Results approach and simplification of complex processes.

He has also served on the Board of Directors of the American Health Information   Management Association (AHIMA) Foundation and is the author of numerous trade articles and presenter at healthcare industry forums.  Don has a BA from Wesleyan University, an MA from University of Iowa, and an MBA from New York University.
